Craig Revel Horwood returns to Rutland Nursery to celebrate the publication of his new book, The Book of Panto, with an evening exploring the history, characters and magic of pantomime.
We’re delighted that Craig will be joining us to switch on our Christmas lights in the courtyard, officially marking the start of the festive season at Rutland Nursery. Visitors can enjoy festive food and drinks, late-night shopping and Christmas activities throughout the nursery.
Those attending the author event will then be welcomed into The View for a seated conversation with Craig about The Book of Panto, the colourful history of this much-loved British tradition, and the journey that transformed him from a panto sceptic into one of its biggest advocates.
After twenty years performing in pantomime, Craig explores the fascinating story of this unique art form — from its international roots to its place at the heart of the British Christmas. In The Book of Panto, he reveals the creativity, costumes and characters behind panto, sharing insights from the performers, designers, directors, producers and historians who bring it to life.
A household name as the longest-serving judge on Strictly Come Dancing, Craig is also an Olivier-nominated choreographer, director, singer and bestselling author, with a career spanning theatre, film and television.
Hosted by Chris Young, the evening will include a discussion about the making of The Book of Panto, behind-the-scenes stories from Craig’s career, an audience Q&A and a book signing.
